How We Are Able To Help You

Attorneys Anthony Jones II and Bruce Millar advising a clientWhen you or a loved one have been injured by the negligence of another person or business, compensation is NOT automatic.

The burden is on you to prove the case. Insurance companies and defendants may deny or minimize your claim unless they know that you have the legal power to beat them in court.

Studies show that victims who hire an attorney generally end up taking home more after the law firm is paid than what insurance companies will typically pay in total to those who are without lawyers.

What the Negligent Person or Company Should Pay You

Georgia’s personal injury laws allow you to claim and recover:

  • Medical expenses for past and future treatment and care
  • Lost pay, including time missed from work
  • Damage to your vehicle, home, or other property
  • Harms caused to your quality of life, current and future
  • Permanent injury, disability, and scars
  • Past and future pain and suffering
  • Any other damages that are caused by the injury

Your Injury Case or Claim Value

The value of an injury case in Atlanta most often depends on the extent of an injury and the costs of current and future medical care. Undeniably, the skill and ability of your attorney greatly impacts the success of obtaining the full value of your claim.

When You Contact or Hire Our Law Firm

Attorney Ivory Roberson helping a clientOur first job is to give you the best possible legal and practical advice about what to do after an accident involving an injury. Often this involves counseling you about how to receive medical care, how to get your automobile or property repaired or replaced, and how to deal with other professionals such as law enforcement, medical doctors, and insurance claims adjusters.

An attorney can and will speak with you about your injury case as soon as you call, whether during or after regular business hours. In most cases we can meet with you the same day or within twenty-four (24) hours to get your case started.

We offer office, home, hospital, work, and electronic consultations. Our goal is to reduce the stress and uncertainty you feel after an accident so that you can focus on recovery.

Decades of Specialized Personal Injury Experience

Bruce R. Millar, Senior Attorney, is a 1993 graduate of Atlanta’s own Emory University School of Law. Recognized by his peers for outstanding work and commitment to the spirit of the legal profession, Millar has been rated AV-Preeminent (the highest possible rating) by Martindale Peer-Review and 10.0 by AVVO (a lawyer and client rating service). The Millar Law Firm’s Record of Success

The injury law team at The Millar Law Firm has helped our clients recover and receive tens of millions of dollars. Our history of top results includes dozens of recoveries exceeding a million dollars each in car, truck, motorcycle, and drunk driving injury claims.

Dedicated advocacy for our clients has garnered a success rate of over 95% in recovering settlements or verdicts in the injury matters we are able to accept.

Don’t Settle for Less

Midtown Atlanta Office Lobby - The Millar Law FirmWe are different from the many “television” advertisers who operate high-volume settlement practices who are satisfied to settle low. We work hard to maximize the value of each case we accept. This means we work closely with you, your doctors, and other experts to make sure your losses, medical needs, and care are well understood and proven.

Insurance companies frequently begin the negotiation process with a low-ball settlement offer. They carefully track which lawyers and law firms accept below-average offers, and which firms will fight hard for their clients. We pride ourselves in knowing that most of our cases come from past clients, other attorneys, and even judges who have seen our work and know we fight hard to maximize the value of our clients’ cases.

Our Local Experience is in Demand

Large national firms may have an “army of lawyers,” but this is not always an advantage. When was the last time you saw an army of lawyers from outside of the area argue an Atlanta case?

For the past twenty-five years the attorneys of the Millar Law Firm have been trying injury cases in Atlanta and in all courts around the metro area: in Fulton, Dekalb, Clayton, Cobb, Gwinnett, Henry, and other counties. Lawyers from outside of Georgia regularly refer to us as local counsel to handle their cases here in Georgia. In the legal profession, Local Experience rules.

Time Limit to File an Injury Case or Claim in Atlanta

In most injury cases arising in Georgia you have two years to file a lawsuit in State or Federal Court. This is known as the statute of limitations. However, this does not mean you should delay in taking action.

After an injury caused by negligence, it is wise to make a claim against the at-fault business or individual as soon as possible. This allows the defendant or his or her insurance company to begin the process of evaluating the case and setting aside proper and adequate insurance reserves. Often the case is settled before the statute of limitations expires.

Car Accident Injury Cases: Our firm regularly handles car accident claims. Many of these accidents happen due to rear-end collisions, head-on crashes, failures to yield, speeding or driving too fast for conditions, or distracted or reckless driving. In most of these cases, an attorney can help you immediately by offering advice about what to do first after an accident and how to avoid common errors and legal pitfalls, such as giving an un-represented recorded statement to the at-fault driver’s insurance adjuster.

Truck Accident Claims: Large truck accidents involving semi-trucks and 18-wheelers in or near Atlanta should be investigated immediately, before evidence can disappear. Call an attorney experienced in trucking cases as soon as possible. Even if your truck wreck happened weeks or months ago, there is still much that can be done to investigate and prove the fault of the truck driver or the carrier. Very few Atlanta law firms can match the twenty years of experience we have in handling catastrophic injuries and wrongful death trucking cases.

Atlanta Motorcycle Accident Injuries: Motorcycle accidents are not simply two-wheeled car accidents. Many motorists do not see the bike-riding victims they injure or kill, and then try to blame the biker. To make matters worse, the injuries suffered in motorcycle crashes are often much worse than other motor-vehicle accidents due to the lack of protection surrounding the motorcyclist. We have recovered multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts for head injuries, paralysis, and serious back and neck injuries resulting from motorcycle and car or truck collisions.

Dog Bites and Dog Attacks: Atlanta has a high number of dog bite and dog attack incidents. Over the past ten years The Millar Law Firm’s attorneys have gained a reputation as being among Atlanta’s best dog bite lawyers. We have tried many dog bite cases (including cases of pit bull attacks) to successful verdicts, and recovered millions of dollars in settlements—often for amounts equal to the homeowner’s insurance policy limits.

Intoxicated Driving Injury Cases: We specialize in handling car and truck and pedestrian accident cases caused by drunk, drugged, and intoxicated drivers. Cases we have handled include both drivers and pedestrians hit by drunk or high drivers. In many cases, claims are also investigated and brought against taverns, bars, or restaurants that may have contributed to the accident by over-serving alcohol.

The Cost to Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer in Atlanta

We do not charge a fee unless we win. The Millar Law Firm does not charge a legal fee unless you get paid, meaning we recover compensation for you through settlement or trial. Our consultations and legal advice are free of charge.

Even if you are not sure if you have a case, please feel free to call or contact our firm. One of our attorneys will speak with you by telephone or in person, free of charge, with no obligation.

Can My Case Be Settled Without Going to Court?

Atlanta Office Conference Room - The Millar Law FirmA good personal injury attorney prepares each case as if it were going to court. Statistically, our firm—like almost every injury law office—is able to settle the vast majority of cases without filing a lawsuit. Even cases that are filed in court often settle before they reach trial.

However, the difference between a great settlement and a small or below-average result often comes down to preparation and the reputation of the law firm. Adjusters and insurance defense lawyers rarely offer top dollar—unless policy limits are reached—until and unless the insurance company is convinced you and your attorneys can take them to court and win.

Our aim is to prepare every case to be courtroom ready. This allows us to settle when a fair offer is made, while being ready to fight for you if justice is not being served-up.

How Long Does It Take To Receive a Settlement Check?

In a personal injury case, the answer to this question often depends on several factors, such as how severe your injuries are, whether the insurance company has decided to fight liability (fault) or the amount of the insurance policy. As a rule of thumb, after a negotiated settlement is reached, most settlement check arrive within several weeks to a month after your case settles with the insurance company.
