Bruce R. Millar received a Verdict of $7,000,000 against a former Dekalb County, Georgia Officer who shot a citizen of Decatur, Georgia.

As the manager of a local-fast food restaurant one of our client’s duties included climbing a ladder attached to the rear-wall of the building to inspect the roof.  Unfortunately, while he was climbing the ladder, it detached from the wall, causing him to fall to the ground and break his ankle.  We discovered that the building had been renovated a couple of years earlier and that the contractor had failed to screw the ladder into the framing stud.  The construction company tried to point the finger of blame at one of its sub-contractors, but in the end, the Jury found that the General Contractor failed to properly supervise its workers and inspect the work.

Tragedy struck a Georgia family when our client’s husband and father to their children died saving them from a house fire. Investigation by the local fire marshal was inconclusive as to the cause of the fire. The firm was retained and teamed up with another top local firm and a nationally respected fire expert. Our investigation determined that the house caught fire due to faulty wiring in an electrical outlet which ignited the house when the family plugged in a space heater. The insurance company initially claimed that only $500,000 of insurance existed to cover the loss, but when threatened with bad faith came clean and admitted that a $1,000,000 umbrella policy also existed.
