Coweta County Courthouse Information

The Coweta County Courthouse in Newnan is one of the more recognizable historic courthouses in Georgia. Built in 1904, the courthouse sits right in the center of downtown Newnan and is known for its large copper dome, classic columns, and historic architecture. Over the years, it has become a local landmark and remains an important part of the community.

Today, Coweta County court services are split between the historic courthouse and the newer Justice Center nearby. The historic courthouse still houses Probate Court functions, while many criminal, civil, and family court matters are handled at the Justice Center on Greenville Street. The courthouse area is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and the downtown square, which gives it a much more welcoming and active feel than many courthouse complexes.
