Annual Teen Safety Scholarship-awarded by The Millar Law Firm

Attention Young Georgians:

Write a Creative Essay on Distracted Driving and Win a College Scholarship

Distracted while driving can be a serious safety hazard to all young drivers in Georgia. Each year we learn about teenagers lost to driving-related accidents, many were distracted drivers. To help raise the level of awareness related to dangers of distracted driving and allow deserving scholars educational assistance, The Millar Law Firm is sponsoring the third annual Teen Safety Scholarship Contest.

Our law firm will award  five scholarships of $500, and one scholarship of $1,000  to 2018 graduating seniors and rising freshmen in Georgia colleges and universities who write essays communicating about the dangers and risks associated with distracted driving.

To enroll in the scholarship selection process, please submit a 600 word essay. Winners will best present fresh ideas communicating some of the hazards that come from dangerous and distracted operation of cars and trucks, that discusses the following:

Why Smartphone Technology Can Be Great or Destructive for Young Drivers

We start accepting entries by Jan 1, 2018. The deadline for submitting entries is May 1, 2018.

As personal injury lawyers representing car accident victims in the Atlanta metro area, we at The Millar Law Firm are committed to making our community a safer place to live and have families. We will review all submissions and scholarship applications and we wish you success!


The Millar Law Firm will provide the following awards to winners of our Scholarship contest. Our review committee will determine the winners. Winners will be announced on May 15, 2018.

  • First Place: $1,000 scholarship award
  • Second Place: $500 scholarship award
  • Third Place: $500 scholarship award
  • Fourth Place: $500 award
  • Fifth Place: $500 award
  • Sixth Place: $500 scholarship

The scholarships will come as a check from The Millar Law Firm and the funds are to be used for college and education expenses.


You must submit your completed application and essay by 11:59 p.m. EDT on May 1, 2018.

Submissions will become the property of The Millar Law Firm to reproduce and use at our discretion.  By making a submission, all entrants agree The Millar Law Firm will have permission to the essay and their image for purposes of promotion.


The Distracted Driving essay contest is open to rising high school seniors in Georgia and college freshmen currently enrolled in an accredited college or university within the State of Georgia.
