Annual Teen Safety Scholarship

Attention Young Georgians:

Write a Creative Essay on Distracted Driving and Win a College Scholarship

Distracted driving poses a serious public safety hazard to young people in Georgia. Every year we hear about families who have lost teenagers to distracted driving-related accidents. To raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving and give some deserving young people a helping hand, Millar & Mixon, LLC is sponsoring the third annual Teen Safety Scholarship Contest.

Our law firm will award scholarships of $2,000, $1,000 and $500 to 2017 graduating seniors and rising freshmen in Georgia colleges and universities who write essays communicating the dangers of distracted driving.

To take part in the scholarship contest, you’ll need to submit a 600 word essay. We’re looking for fresh ideas to communicate the dangers of distracted driving, that answer the following prompt:

Why Smartphone Technology Can Be
Great or Destructive for Young Drivers

We start accepting entries by Jan 1, 2017. The deadline for submitting entries is May 1, 2017.

Prizes

Millar & Mixon LLC will provide the following awards to winners of our Scholarship contest. Our review committee will determine the winners. Winners will be announced on May 15, 2017.

  • 1st Place: $2,000 scholarship
  • 2nd Place: $1,000 scholarship
  • 3rd Place: $500 scholarship

The cash prizes will be awarded in the form of a check from the law firm of Millar & Mixon LLC and the money is to be used to pay for education related expenses.

Deadline

You must submit your completed application and essay by 11:59 p.m. EDT on May 1, 2017.

All submissions become the property of Millar & Mixon, LLC to distribute and reproduce at its discretion. The entrants agree that Millar & Mixon, LLC will have permission to use their image and the essay for marketing purposes.

Eligibility

The Distracted Driving essay contest is open to rising high school seniors in Georgia and rising college freshmen enrolled at a four-year college or university in Georgia.

Applicants will send a completed downloadable application, head shot photo and essay to scholarship@atlantaadvocate.com.
